  • Consider this passage and these paradigms

In Luke 12:22-34 Jesus talks about not worrying about your life, what you will eat, or about what you will wear. In fact, he says, "And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them." He goes on, "sell your possessions and give to the poor."

Isn't this so hard? How can we not worry at all about these things? so we study hard at school, considering it our duty to get a good job and tithe etc. we constantly worry about our futures and hoard up possessions. we're afraid to give away our possessions or to live in poverty, because we feel like if we're poor we won't be able to be effective or useful for the kingdom.

and so we disobey this commandment.

but how can we possibly be obedient to this commandment?

Commonly see signs and wonders. There is no other way to be obedient to God's commandment. This was how Jesus obeyed this commandment. When they didn't have enough food, he multiplied food. when he didn't have money to pay taxes he summoned it from the mouth of a fish.

to go on, paul says in romans 17:17-19

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done – by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

here paul says that when he talks about his ministry, he only wants to mention the POWER that he used that enabled him to so powerfully affect the Gentiles. he concludes that because of that power, he fully proclaimed the gospel.

because how else can we see the results of paul?? he says is verse 23 "that there is no more place for me to work in these regions." He freaking ripped up the entire region. that's like me going "man, so i've done everything there's to be done in San Diego, guess i have to leave."  it's like incomprehensible. unimagineable.

the point is that we need power. all of us. if you don't have it, you'll always worry about money. because money is the power of man. with money you can get men to do whatever men can do. unless you know how to tap into the power of god, your paradigm will always be limited by what man can do.

worry about heavenly treasure. u get it? earthly treasure enables you to evoke the power of men on the earth. but with heavenly treasure you're able to evoke the power of god on the earth. with this treasure you can be a homeless bum (like jesus btw) and live in the power and blessings of god. i was telling my friend, man, if you have real power (like the ability to raise the dead), come and live at my house! i'll let you sleep in the bed, i'll sleep on the floor. i'll feed you, just let me be near you.

but freaking, let's make the non-saved do this! imagine if all christians were homeless power monkeys, i'm sure there'd be non-saved people who'd provide for us just to learn from us. didn't jesus do that?! and isn't there that scripture about the wealth of the unrighteous, o here it is.

    Isaiah 61:6
And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.

so god, teach us how to draw on the power of heaven, and to store up our treasure there.

  • i'm learning a lot these days about fruitfulness.

i think a lot of times we do work for god, or for good, and just take it "on faith" that god is making it fruitful in the background, tho we can't really see it. and, it's true i guess, in the same way that if an ant keeps pushing grains of sand, he'll *eventually* be able to build a pyramid to rival egypt's. meaning, some good is being done, but it's more of like a nuisance to the enemy, as opposed to something that's destroying his works.

the problem is that if we think we're actually being fruitful, when we're not, then we deceive ourselves and never get humble enough to grow. or we grow so sssllllooowwww. sooo sssllloooowwwwwwwwwwww.

the problem is that we try to be servants before sons. we try to do all the things that god's called us to do, because we're trying to earn his love to some degree. or trying to get him to like us. or trying to feel good about ourselves. prove ourselves valuable in our own eyes.

the thing is, we're not good servants. we suck at it still. most of us. we stack legos that the lord gives us to play with and call it work for the kingdom.

and god never expected us to be good servants as soon as we got saved. we're supposed to be children. and learn to just know and love the lord. then he builds us into capable servants. love the lord first, and fruitfulness comes automatically.

our churches and fellowships are set up to train people to be good servants, but we SUCK at training people to simply know and love the lord. how about hearing the lord's voice?! isn't that pretty elementary stuff in a relationship with someone? how about enjoying his presence? pretty elementary stuff. but we're trying to run before we can crawl.

i tell you, you cannot be fruitful without learning the elementary things first. or u will try to love without knowing the lord's heart. you will try to destroy darkness without being able to recognize light.

    learn to crawl first dennis.
