i'm learning a lot these days about fruitfulness.
i think a lot of times we do work for god, or for good, and just take it "on faith" that god is making it fruitful in the background, tho we can't really see it. and, it's true i guess, in the same way that if an ant keeps pushing grains of sand, he'll *eventually* be able to build a pyramid to rival egypt's. meaning, some good is being done, but it's more of like a nuisance to the enemy, as opposed to something that's destroying his works.
the problem is that if we think we're actually being fruitful, when we're not, then we deceive ourselves and never get humble enough to grow. or we grow so sssllllooowwww. sooo sssllloooowwwwwwwwwwww.
the problem is that we try to be servants before sons. we try to do all the things that god's called us to do, because we're trying to earn his love to some degree. or trying to get him to like us. or trying to feel good about ourselves. prove ourselves valuable in our own eyes.
the thing is, we're not good servants. we suck at it still. most of us. we stack legos that the lord gives us to play with and call it work for the kingdom.
and god never expected us to be good servants as soon as we got saved. we're supposed to be children. and learn to just know and love the lord. then he builds us into capable servants. love the lord first, and fruitfulness comes automatically.
our churches and fellowships are set up to train people to be good servants, but we SUCK at training people to simply know and love the lord. how about hearing the lord's voice?! isn't that pretty elementary stuff in a relationship with someone? how about enjoying his presence? pretty elementary stuff. but we're trying to run before we can crawl.
i tell you, you cannot be fruitful without learning the elementary things first. or u will try to love without knowing the lord's heart. you will try to destroy darkness without being able to recognize light.
learn to crawl first dennis.
